24/7 PRAYER FOR JAPAN 日本のための祈りをつなげよう

Prayer Guide – Week 8 (November 13-19)

Posted on November 14, 2023

1 Fukuoka & Saga

This week's prayer focus is Fukuoka and Saga Prefectures.

This area has more openness to foreigners than perhaps any other part of Japan - due in part to the 30,000 non-Japanese living here. Despite the number of internationals who could be bringing the Gospel to this region, Japanese who attend any form of worship service or Sunday fellowship hovers below 0.002% of the population. There are many who have claimed church membership that are not a part of their congregations. In Fukuoka, Christian sincerity is generally hard to find.

Please pray for:

  • Those in Fukuoka who have a real, intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus, that they would be spurred on by the Holy Spirit to reach out to the lost with the Good News
  • The Christian immigrants, that they would be faithful to let their light shine in the darkness
  • The lost, that they would seek out and find their one true satisfaction in the person of Jesus Christ
  • Fukuoka to be won for Christ by His steadfast and patient love

"And then He will send forth the angels, and will gather together His elect from the four winds, from the farthest end of the earth to the farthest end of heaven." - Mark 13:27

Located only 200 kilometers from the shoreline of South Korea, Saga has been a place of cultural exchange between Japan and mainland Asia. This includes a brief history of Catholicism that was initiated by Portuguese Jesuits in the 17th century.

Today, 88% of the towns and villages in Saga have no church presence at all - this is the worst percentage in Japan. The Kingdom of God has yet to infiltrate this region, but when the Lord moves, He moves mightily. The gates of hell won't stand against the advance of His church. Come Lord Jesus!

Please pray for:

  • The believers of Saga, that the Holy Spirit would prompt them to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with their families, neighbors, friends, and coworkers
  • The 37 towns and villages with no Christian witness, that they would be blessed to have the beautiful feet of those who bring the Gospel grace their vacinities
  • New Life to enter Saga, one heart at a time

"And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved."
- Acts 4:12

2 Japanese Overseas

In 2019 more than 1.3 million Japanese were living abroad. It is estimated that every year nearly 1,000 Japanese people become Christians overseas. This is a high percentage compared to those living in Japan. Churches and Christian home-stay families around the world have an amazing opportunity to welcome Japanese people and share the gospel with them.

  • Pray for churches and ministries outside Japan as they seek to reach out to Japanese people.
  • Pray that Japanese people living overseas would be open to the gospel and meet believers who can lead them to Christ.

3 Pray for High School Students

  • Pray that more high school students will spend their high school years, one step before adulthood, shining with the Lord, and that Christ's revival will be given to that generation.
  • Pray that as many young people as possible will encounter the Lord throughout their senior year of high school.
  • Pray that many young people will encounter the Lord during their senior year of high school. Pray that they will be given good encounters, realize the value of their own self-confidence, and grow.
  • Pray that the high school students who attend our church will grow in their faith with the Lord's help, and that they will be able to communicate the Lord to others.

Some people drop out of high school. Pray that the work of the church and church school will reach such people.

Nowadays, more and more people are dropping out of high school due to financial reasons. Please pray that the Lord's love will be delivered to such families.
