Prayer Guide – Week 12 (Jan 8-14)

The region of Kanto includes Tokyo and its surrounding suburban cities and adjacent prefectures. Tokyo is considered the most populated metropolitan area in the world. Thirty-one percent of Japan’s population lives in the Kanto region.

• Pray for the churches in the prefectures of: Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, Saitama, Chiba, and Tokyo. Pray for existing churches to be healthy and for new churches to be planted where they are needed.
• There are so many people and gospel needs in the Kanto region, yet not enough churches or Christian workers. Pray for God’s leading for Christian workers and churches to know how to focus their limited time and energy. Pray that all believers will contribute in building up the body of Christ.

There are almost three million university students in Japan. University is a unique time when Japanese students are flexible in their schedule and open to new people and ideas. They are becoming adults and have hopes and anxieties about themselves and the future.

Pray that God will open doors for Christians to build relationships with university students, many of whom have never heard the gospel. Praise God for ministries like KGK (Japan’s chapter of InterVarsity), Campus Crusade, the Navigators, and YWAM that reach out to students.

Pray for Japanese Christian students and professors to have courage in sharing the gospel with classmates and coworkers.

Pray that the Holy Spirit will lead students to use the season of university life to mature in their identity in Christ. Pray they will build lifelong relationships with Christian friends and mentors.

On New Year's Day, 2024, a major earthquake hit the Noto Peninsula and many people were affected. Prayers are needed now.

• Pray for the protection of the victims and that all their needs will be provided for.
• Pray that the local churches will be used as salt of the earth.
• That the churches throughout Japan will unite their hearts and join in the relief efforts.
• Pray that the Lord will show us His work through this.
